Actually, some of them don’t even have their equivalent on Windows. Not only does it have a certain vibe to it, but it’s got a lot of apps which for some reasons you can’t get on Windows. I’m saying ‘unfortunately’ because I’m aware not everybody can afford to buy one. I know my way around all common computers and operating systems, and, unfortunately, I have to say that MacBooks are the best piece of hardware created for writing. The right hardware and software is the foundation of any good writing.

But why go through that if there’s dedicated writing apps on the market? Windows or OS X? I mean, you can write in the most basic notebook app, sure. The only other thing we need now is good software. These problems are long gone thanks to PCs and laptops. Every mistake I made meant I had to type out the entire page again or use correction fluid. Kind of a weird decision on my part, because I could have just asked a friend to print it out for me, but I was determined to pretend I was a real writer. I had decided to participate in a short story competition but I didn’t have a printer in my home. I also experienced a short-lived romance with a typewriter. I also vaguely remember “writing” a novel in a drawing pad. Obviously, they didn’t even look like screenplays, because I was a teen and had no idea what I was doing. Before that, I wrote two screenplays in my maths notebook. My first three books were created within the pages of such notebooks. What to write in? I started off with A4 notebooks. Let’s talk about technical matters first.

So I decided to help them a little, because I know how to do it on my own and I know how to do it with a publishing house. And if they do, then they definitely don’t know how to talk to publishers. But they don’t know how to write it and what to do with the manuscript.

Then again, there’s a growing number of people who dream of publishing a book. There’s a lot of bloggers who are not tech savvy enough to take care of all word processing matters. This is going to be the first article of a longer series I’ve been meaning to write for a long time.
